Embattled Mr. Victor Tiger Edoror, who earlier was tipped in pole position to become speaker of the 7th Edo State House of Assembly, has in an exclusive chat with Midwest Herald Community Newspaper from ‘exile’, reacted to the emergence of Mr. Frank Okiye as the Speaker of the House of Assembly, proclaiming that the executive arm of government should do the correct thing as posterity will judge everyone.

EXECUTIVE ARM OF GOVERNMENT FOISTERED ITS CHOICE OF LEGISLATIVE LEADERS ON THE PEOPLE

“The action of the executive arm of government of Edo State in foistering leadership of the State House of Assembly on the people came as a big surprise to everybody.

“This is my third term as a lawmaker in the state legislature. This kind of daylight robbery has never been in existence in the state.

“I am acquainted with the rules and regulation of the legislature haven in the past risen to the position of Deputy Speaker and Speaker.

“Inauguration is a ceremonial thing whereby friends and family members are invited to witness it.

OBASEKI MUST DO THE CORRECT THING

“As far as I am concerned Governor Godwin Obaseki has not made a proper proclamation as regards the inauguration of the House of Assembly. When he does that we will take it from there.

“By virtue of section 91 of the constitution which stipulates that a House of Assembly should have not less than 24 members and not more than 40 members, the recent occurrence in the Edo State House of Assembly where five members with four kidnapped others were forced to the House around 9.30pm for the improper inauguration is a rape of democracy and not acceptable.

POSTERITY WILL JUDGE ALL OF US

“Posterity will judge all of us and even our children yet unborn will ask us what we did to show our objection when it happened.

“For the sake of precedence this illegality can never be encouraged or accepted. The illegal inauguration should be reverted and everybody return to the path of honour.

EDO PEOPLE NOT SUPPORTING EVIL

“I want to thank the people of Edo State for their continuous support. I am happy that the people are not supporting evil.

“We are assuring them that we have their mandate and will bring the dividends of democracy to their doorsteps. We have shown that against all odds we have stood firm and continue to do so even as we ensure that they have the best,” he stressed.
