Reliable traditional sources have reduced the fake news alleging that the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Mr. Osarodion Ogie Esq. dishonoured the Benin monarch, HRM, Oba Ewuare II, over the request for courtesy by the President of Nigeria Industrial Court to the revered Benin monarch in an obscure social media as “deliberate disinformation and hoaxes.”
The source also added that the “beer parlour gist” is a figment of the writer’s imagination.
The fake news maliciously reported that Ogie narrowly escaped the wrath of the ancestors for disrespecting the Benin monarch regarding the letter he signed on behalf of the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki.
Wherein he pleaded with His Majesty to receive the Judges and Officials of the National Industrial court led by its president, Justice Babatunde Adejumo.
The said letter which was made available to our correspondent reads differently from the falsehood published by fake online outfits.
The letter which was addressed to the Secretary to the Oba of Benin, had as heading: ‘Request For Courtesy Visit To His Royal Majesty.’
The content reads: “I respectfully request you to kindly inform His Royal Majesty that a Team of Judges and officials of the National Industrial Court, Abuja is expected to visit the Palace of the Oba of Benin.
“It will be highly appreciated if His Royal Majesty graciously approves a courtesy visit by the team to be led by Hon. Justice Babatunde A. Adejumo, President, National Industrial Court, Abuja on Monday 16th September, 2019 at 3: 00pm.”
The letter concluded with a plea: “…I am to add that any inconveniences caused the Palace by this short notice is deelpy regretted. Oba ghato Okpere, Ise!.”
As customary in high profile official correspondence, the letter was singed for Edo State Government by Osarodion Ogie.
It is obvious from our findings that the mischief makers who fabricated the fake news with the intention to cause disaffection between the Royal Majesty and the office of SSG are naive and completely lack judgement of the workings of government processes.
It will be recall that Justice Adejumo visited Edo State to commission the Benin Division of the National Industrial Court built by Governor Godwin Obaseki which was established in 1978 with a mandate to mediate in dispute between employer and employees and interest surrounding labour and relating matters.
The event was successfully without rancour.
