The Chief of Staff to Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Comrade Taiwo Akerele has cried out over alleged threats to his life recently at the premises of Protea Hotel, Benin City, Edo State Nigeria.
Comrade Taiwo told news reporters that his bedroom was broken into a few nights ago while he was in his home town for the weekend by people he suspected to be political hired assassins in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State.
“I just came back from Igara where I noticed that unknown persons entered my room through the ceiling. I have reported to the police in Igara and when I came to Benin City, I went straight to Protea Hotel, where I had a meeting with foreign investors and I experienced sudden attack from Mr. Tony Adun, aka Kabaka.
“Without any provocation whatsoever, Mr. Kabaka walked up to me at about 8pm in company of over fourteen violent looking boys with one of them in possession of something that looks like firearm and said Akerele, Akerele, if we assault and kill you here what would have happen?
“At that time, the atmosphere became charged and tensed up to a boiling point. It took the efforts of the Protea Hotel security team to restore the peace”, Taiwo said.
In a vedio that has gone viral on Sunday morning and still trending, Mr. Tony Kabaka was seen openly admitting that he had the opportunity to do whatever he liked to the Chief of Staff in the previous Saturday’s night encounter, stating that nothing would have happened.”
Mr. Tony Kabaka has been at a dagger’s drawn with Governor Godwin Obaseki’s led-government.
Comrade Taiwo who could not curtail his anger said “I fought the military along side other genuine Comrades for the enthronement of democracy in this country. I leap today as if I’m disabled as a result of the bullets injury.
“I have contacted the police authorities and my teams of lawyers to press charges of assault and threat to life against Kabaka.” Taiwo said.
