The second woman to have been elected as a Senator from Edo State, Mrs. Daisy Danjuma Esq., has advocated the creation of a security network to be known as ‘Atalakpa’ in Edo State, as direct response to the controversial ‘Amotekun’ Security that was recently created by the South West States.

The lawyer, turned politician, made the suggestion earlier today, January 19, 2020 at a town hall meeting in Lagos, organised by Unuedo Renaissance, the body of professionals.

According to her, the South West States now have Amotekun, most of the criminals from the states will enter Edo State and to prevent this, “we must beefup out security and maybe have something like ‘Atalakpa’.” Her suggestion received a thunderous ovation in the capacity filed hall.

‘Atalakpa’ in Benin language means Tiger, generally believed to be the largest species among the Felidae and classified in the genus Panthera. It is most recognisable for its dark vertical stripes. It is an apex predator, primarily preying on ungulate.
