APC Crisis: Oshiomhole Contemplates Resignation

The All progressive congress (APC) broke tradition Wednesday by keeping mum on Supreme Court’s verdict on Bayelsa state governorship poll.

The apex court on Wednesday not only validated earlier decision which pronounced Peoples Democratic Party’s Douye Diri governor, it went further to slam a huge fine amounting to N30 million on the party and counsels that filed the review.

However, it took wise counsel from members of the APC National Working Committee to restrain Comrade Oshiomhole who had summoned reporters to issue another proscript of the decision of the apex court.

In his last outing denouncing the decision to award the result of the Bayelsa poll on February 14, 2020, Oshiomhole declared that the judgement of the Supreme Court lacks the fruit of justice, a statement that was roundly condemned by Nigerians, including his party members.

Following Wednesday’s sledgehammer, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole had summoned journalists obviously to brief on the issue but after keeping the reporters for over two hours, the event was cancelled at about 5 pm without any explanation.

However, an official of the party who would not want to be named hinted that the party might issue a statement on the issue before 9 pm.

Earlier while the few available NWC members lingered inside the APC Chairman’s office, the rumour mill went abuzz that the former Governor may be contemplating resignation due to recent pressures from his party.
