One of the six governorship aspirants in Edo State, that have collected and returned the Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi, has given reason why he abandoned the results of a recent consensus exercise.

The ex executive of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC told Midwest Herald exclusively that the attempt to undermine individuals that were principals of the arrangement led him to make a U-turn to the race.

“I hate when people begin to ask, who are you?” The nice disposition man said.

He added that, he tried to find out what was ‘going on’ when he heard of the plan to encourage others into the race, but got little or no reasonable explanation. It was at that point that he decided to purchase the relevant forms that will enable him be on the ballot later this month.

It will be recalled that the APC faction loyal to the national chairman Mr. Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole in Edo State, recently subjected about seven aspirants to screening in Abuja and the process produced Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu as the consensus aspirant for the pro Oshiomhole’s contenders.

The exercise came through after the initial attempt failed when hoodlums attacked the organisers at the premises of an aide of Oshiomhole, Mr. Lucky Imasuen in Benin City.
