There are reports of sporadic gunfire amidst violent protests allegedly by members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) along the Murtala Mohammed Expressway between Gwarimpa Estate and Kubwa in Abuja Territory.
Other reports indicated that a number of pedestrians may have been attacked. v
Several vehicles commuting in the area are suspected to have been also vandalised and properties damaged.
Ajourning routes in the area have been obstructed and traffic disrupted.
An escalation of violence remains likely as additional security forces have been reportedly deployed to the scene.
