If the disgraced National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC and ex-governor of Edo State, Mr. Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, had thought he would overrun the ‘kukuruku hills’ to conquer Senator Francis Asekhame Alimikhena in his quest to upstage him from getting elected as the senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, he may have to reappraise his war-plans.
Forced out of the APC, Alimikhena approached the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for a waiver to fly their flag. His application was approved, after Mrs. Victoria Edelokun willingly stepped down.
Arising from this decision, the PDP NWC in a letter to Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, Edo State Chairman of PDP, copied also to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the party gave a go-ahead for fresh primary today, June 3, 2022, to pick Alimikhena as the candidate for Edo North Senatorial District.
The process has been concluded, clearing the way for a titanic political battle between two Etsako politicians.
Certainly, and considering the antecedent of Oshiomhole, Senator Francis Alimikhena will face a herculean fight on the hills of ‘kukuruku’ land.
Meanwhile, the NWC is expected to make public its final list of candidates for the 2023 general elections on June 7, 2022.
