Senate Set to Probe Tanko, Ex CJN

Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, today June 28, 2022 resolved to probe Tanko Muhammad, the immediate past Chief Justice of Nigeria, who retired yesterday, June 27, 2022 under shadowing circumstances.

The senators disclosed that despite the resignation of the CJN, the house will still go ahead to probe him on corruption allegations levelled against him by the supreme court Justices.

The lawmakers reached the resolution after deliberating on a motion sponsored by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele during plenary today,

The motion was titled: “Matter of urgent public importance on the state of affairs in the Supreme Court of Nigeria and demand by Justices of the court, pursuant to rules 41 and 51 of the Senate Standing Orders, 2022 (as amended).”
