2023: “You’ve Destroyed Nigeria” Atiku Fires APC Amidst Huge Crowd in Edo

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign trail moved to Benin City, Edo State on Saturday, October 22, 2022 and the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, wasted no time to blame the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC for the economic and social crises bedevilling Nigeria.

Atiku told the over 30,000 PDP faithful that the ruling party has destroyed the country in the last seven years, and urged Nigerians not to support APC with their votes.

While addressing the rally at the magnificent Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the former Vice President urged the mammoth crowd: “You have seen how APC has destroyed this country, destroyed the economy of this country.

“They have destroyed your educational opportunities. They have destroyed your job opportunities. APC is not a party to be the supported.

“Therefore, we call on you to continue to be loyal to PDP and PDP will be loyal to you.”

Atiku and his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had earlier paid a visit to the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II in his palace. They were led by their host, Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Atiku appealed to the Oba to pray for peaceful election and political transition in the 2023 general election.

In the entourage, were some PDP leaders, including the Chairman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council and Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Dr. Udom Emmanuel, Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal; Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu; National Chairman of the PDP Iyorchia Ayu; former National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus; former Governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola; former Governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau, among others.

Atiku told the monarch that, traditional rulers such as the Oba, have critical roles to play in fostering peace and stability as the country prepares for the 2023 elections.

“We thank you for granting us an audience and also seek your prayers for the peaceful transition in our country.

“As one of the foremost fathers in this country, you have a lot to contribute to a very smooth transition. This is because you can ensure peaceful conduct of all political activities in the state.”

On his part, Oba Ewuare II assured the PDP presidential candidate of his prayers for the success of his presidential bid.

“Here is home for you. We have been following your statements and assurances and pray to Almighty God and our ancestors that you have good health and wisdom to bring it to fruition should you be the chosen one to lead this country. We have you in our prayers.” Oba Ewuare II said.
