The call on President Muhammadu Buhari by Governor Ben Ayade to deploy soldiers to the Uyanga forests in Akamkpa LGA of Cross River State, has attracted men of the Nigerian Army to the state.

Ayadi subsequently called on the federal government to deploy both Tucano aircraft and more security personnel to comb the Akamkpa forests for suspected bandits.
The bandits had earlier seized and abducted nine motorists and led them into the forests. The Security immediately went after the kidnappers and the hostages were released the following day.
Again, on November 18, 2022, another seven persons were kidnapped at the same spot on the Uyanga-Ikom-Calabar highway.
Earlier today, military men comprising of the Army, Navy and Police took over the Uyanga community in search of the kidnappers.
Reports have it that the presence of the military has restored confidence in Uyanga and environs.
“We were scared by the activities of the gunmen. Even travellers are also scared because they daringly operated yesterday on the highway,” one of the reports stated.
