Dr. Benjamin Oni Okpaku, founder of the defunct Benoni Hospital, Benin, has adviced that the Super Eagles should not be written off in the ongoing African Cup of Nations, AFCON, tournament in Egypt.

He also called for caution on the debate that the Super Eagles team to the tournament is underperforming and as such its coaching crew led by Gernot Rohr should be sacked.

“We should tread softly. We need to exercise caution the way we go about handling the issue. After all we still have two matches to go to get to the final.

“Anything can happen. Nothing is cast in iron as far as this AFCON is concerned. Yes, we lost to Madagascar and by that we did not come out tops in our group.

“We were over confident in the match against the Madagascar team. We took things for granted in the match.

“By the time we realised our mistake it was too late to make amends. That’s not to say that we cannot lift the trophy.

“We may surprise ourselves by going far beyond our expectations. All boils down to how we handle the remaining matches ahead of us,” the octogenarian posited.
