Some members of the National Working Committee, NWC of the All Progressives Congress Party have asked Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of the ruling party to resign for “unilaterally endorsing Senator Ahmad Lawan as the consensus presidential candidate.

Others demanding his sack are members, party delegates and leaders, who said Adamu has demonstrated irresponsibility by single-handedly announcing the choice of Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the consensus presidential candidate of the party for the 2023 elections.

Meanwhile, Adamu is reported to have gone into hiding after his pronouncement.

Trouble started after he claimed that President Mohammed Buhari had anointed Lawan to get the ticket, a claim that was subsequently denied by the president.

As at yesterday night, Adamu was forced to conceal himself from other members of the NWC who had retreated to the National secretariat to confront their chairman.

According to information, “despite activities being in top gear ahead of the National Convention of the APC, Abdullahi Adamu’s whereabouts have been largely unknown.

“After his failed imposition, he hurriedly left office before the APC governors arrived to hold a meeting with him over unresolved issues dogging the convention.

“It is hard to believe that the chairman could just leave his office and switch off his phones like that.”

The Kebbi Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, who led other governors, was compelled to meet only with other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) at the party’s headquarters.

The meeting was presided over by Abubakar Kyari, deputy national chairman north at the NEC Hall of the party’s national secretariat.

Other governors that were at the meeting last night were: Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Aminu Masari (Katsina), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna) and Simon Lalong (Plateau).
