Preparatory to February 2023 General Election, the All Progressives Congress, APC, has clinched 22 out of the 25 chairmanship seats in the local government councils polls organized by the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission, NSIEC, on Thursday 10, 2022.
The Director Operations, NSIEC, Comrade Ibrahim Aliyu Tunganwawa, declared the results in Minna, the state capital.
The results of three LGs were being awaited at press time. Thirteen political parties took participated in the election which the Peoples Democratic Party boycotted.
The NSIEC Director explained that, “…due to some problems experienced during the conduct of the local government councils election, NSIEC will conduct rerun elections in two wards of Rafi and Kontagora Local Government Councils.
“The two wards are that of Kusherki and Tungan Kawo scheduled to hold this sunday”.
Tungawawa described the local government councils election as peaceful and orderly inspite some minor hitches.
The APC in Niger State are happy with the outcome of the polls, a described the exercise as “good foundation for the upcoming elections”.
