Atiku Abubakar, Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, today, Wednesday 14, 2022, held a private consultation with Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State, at the Government House in Agodi, Ibadan.

The meeting had members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) in attendance.

Although, details of the closed door meeting have not been disclosed, it may not be unconnected with Abubakar’s effort to reconcile the disagreements within the party. Atiku, Okowa and others were later greeted by a mammoth South-West PDP Stakeholders, led by Governor Makinde in an interactive session.

It is believed that the talks were successful and a possible peace deal may have been reached. Makinde was quoted to have “promised to work for the victory of PDP in Oyo State.”

Governor Makinde has been consistent in voicing his displeasure against the emergence of the party’s chairman and presidential candidate from the same region and had joined force with Governor Nyesom Wike of River State in this regard.

Both have insisted that, the PDP cannot restructure Nigeria if it failed to observe inclusivity in its own internal affairs.
