The newly inaugurated administration in Bayelsa State may sooner than later bite the dust, going by new moves to tighten the noose around Governor Douye Diri.
The common cliche, that “…when a needle falls into a deep well, many people will look into the well, but few will be ready to go down after it”, aptly explain the political trajectory in the so called ‘Glory of all Lands’.
The dynamical interplay will ultimately be defined by those of the school of thought that tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.
One of such person is Mr. Timi Alaibi, the former henchman of Nigeria Delta Development Commission, NDDC and a governorship aspirant on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the recently decided Bayelsa State Governorship election petition by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Timi Alaibe, had approached the Court and alleged that Bayelsa PDP manipulated the primary election in favour of a particular aspirant who eventually emerged as the party’s candidate.
The dissatisfied Alaibe demanded for the cancellation of the result of the PDP primary election.
In SUIT No: FHC/YNG/CS/99/2019 filed at the Federal High Court in Yenagoa , Alaibe asked the Court to declare him as the validly nominated governorship candidate of the PDP. He joined the PDP, Diri and two others as defendants.
The matter was before Justice Jane Inyang but was subsequently returned to the Chief Judge of Federal High Court for reassignment on the strength of Alaibi’s petition against Justice Inyang. The case is still in works!
Before now Diri and PDP stalwarts have made spirited effort to beg Alaibe, but to no avail. Sources loyal to the vexed aspirant confirmed that Timi Alaibi’s confidence has been buoyed by the nullification of the victory of the APC candidate, David Lyon, by the Supreme Court and now ready to pursue his case at the Federal High Court to conclusion.
Certainly, the melodrama in Bayelsa State government house may have just started, waiting for a final act.
