Breaking… Edo Assembly Members-Elect seats Declared Vacant

Confirmed reports indicate that the fleeing members-elect of Edo State House of Assembly have had their seats declared vacant by the Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Frank Okiye in accordance with the House Rules.

The long awaited decision was taken this Wednesday 4, 2019 in Benin City, the State capital.

It will be recall that some elected members have refused themselves to be inaugurated into the House since June when the Assembly was proclaimed by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The sacked members-elect stayed off and were camped in Abuja, thereby abdicating their role as representatives of their constituent.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC is expected to conduct election into the vacant positions in 90days.
