Muiz, Left with Tinubu

News filtering in revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari has dropped Muiz Banire as Chairman Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).

President Buhari has also replaced him with Mr. Edward Adamu as the new chairman.

The Senate confirmed today, a request from Mr. President seeking the confirmation of Mr. Adamu as the new chairman for the Corporation.

The letter dated December 9, 2019, reads: “In accordance with Section 10(1) of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) Act, 2010, I hereby present Mr. Edward Lametek Adamu for confirmation as Chairman of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria by the Distinguished Senate.

This is coming on the heels of a similar replacement of Mr. Babatunde Fowler as the Chairmen of Federal Inland Revenue Service with Mr. Mohammed Nami.

Observers are of the opinion that the two incident may not be unconnected with the 2023 president election which Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu has indicated interest.

However, political pundits are of the view that both Tinubu and Banire have parted political ways long ago due to the unwillingness of the ex-commissioner to remain subservient to Tinubu who is reknowed for his ability to straighten political curves.
