Dead Body Sparks Fears of Covid-19 in Community

Fear has taken over a neighborhood in Kano, over the strange and sudden death of one Abdulrasheed Ibrahim, a resident of Gwammaja Quarters in the metropolis. The inhabitants have expressed concern that his death may be connected to the Covid-19 pandemic, according to them, he died while Self-Isolating from the deadly Coronavirus.

According to neighbours of the deceased, late Abdulrasheed was reported to have returned to Kano from Abuja recently.

The neighbours also volunteered that on the day man returned to Kano, he was seen washing his car and later entered his house, perhaps for Self-Isolation as alleged by neighbours.

It was gathered that residents in the neighbourhood became apprehensive after an offensive smell started oozing out of the deceased’s house.

They observed he had remained indoors for three days.

The development compelled the residents to alert his relatives, who broke into his home where he was found dead.

As at the time of filling this report, the Kano health authority was yet to confirm the cause of death.

The director, Public Health and Disease Control, Dr. Imam Wada Bello, confirmed the incident.

He called for calm, stating that health officials have been deployed to the scene to exercise all requisite medical measures.

According to him, the blood sample of the deceased has been collected and subjected to medical examination.

He assured that the public would be informed about the outcome of the test that is currently being conducted on the samples collected.
