Edo Union for Peace and Progressive Leadership (EUPP) has praised Comrade Philip Shaibu, Deputy Governor of Edo for his visit to Senator Adams Oshiomhole, former Governor of Edo State in Abuja to celebrate his swearing in as the Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District.
In a chat with Midwest Herald, the convener of the group, Erauyi Igbinevbo-Aigbogun, EUPP would want all politicians to emulate the action of Comrade Shaibu as the standard for coexistence by politicians in Edo State, especially as the state marches towards July 2024 governorship election.
“Politics is not a do or die game. Politicians must realise that, there is life after political office.
“Oshiomhole helped both Shaibu and governor Godwin Obaseki and so we see no problem with Shaibu visiting their master in Abuja.
“We are ready to resist any attempt to make trouble with our young and dynamic deputy governor because, he went to celebrate with his boss that made him who he is in politics.” Aigbogun said.
He added that people must be free to associate freely and cautioned Obaseki not to listen to “lazy” politicans who can only survive during political crisis.
Recall that, yesterday, June 13, 2023, Comrade Shaibu abstained from the swearing-in of 15 Commissioners in the State.
As a result of the development, many concluded that all was not well between Obaseki and Shaibu. Some ascribed the alleged frosty relationship to Shaibu’s 2024 guber aspiration.
Some photographs showing Senator Oshiomhole and his political godson, in convivial mood in Abuja, heightened the speculation that Obaseki and his deputy were at daggers drawn.
There are unconfirmed stories on why Obaseki failed to swear in any commissioners from the three Etsako Local Government Areas (LGAs) – Etsako Central, Etsako East, and Etsako West into his cabinet yesterday June 13, 2023.
