For engaging in habitual anti-party activities, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has finally expelled Mr. Kassim Afegbua from the party.
His expected expulsion was conveyed in a letter written to the National Chairman of PDP, Prince I he Secondus. The letter was signed by the Edo State chapter of the party, Mr. Tony Aziegbemi.
Afegbua who served at different times as Chief Press Secretary, Senior Special Assistant, as well as Commissioner of Information during Mr. Adams Oshiomhole’s administration has been enmeshed in controversies within the PDP.
His latest offense according to the letter is his anti-party activities in his ward before and during the 2020 Edo State governorship.
The May 17, 2021 letter reads:
“Re: Resolution of the expulsion of Kassim Afegbua as a member of PDP.
“Mr Kassim Afegbua as a member of PDP hitherto engaged in series of anti-party activities in his ward before and during Edo State Gubernatorial election of September 19, 2020.
“All attempts by his ward, Local Government Area and State Disciplinary Committees to secure his attendance at various meetings to clear himself of all allegations proved abortive.
“I hereby forward herewith to you the expulsion of Mr Kassim Afegbua as unanimously affirmed by the State Disciplinary Committee of our party in Edo State.”
It will be recall that Kassim recently petitioned the leadership of PDP to the Economic and Financial EFCC as well as the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offenses Commission (ICPC). He accused them of diverting over 10 Billion Naira generated from sales of forms to aspirants.
Kassim Afegbua is a long time spokesman to the former military President, Ibrahim Babagida who annulled the June 12, 1992 presidential election, popularly believed to have been won by Alhaji Moshood Kolawole Abiola of blessed memory.
