News making rounds points to a ‘coup’ in the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Rivers State.

Unconfirmed report says Prof Iyorcha Ayu and presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, may have ‘appointed’ a Rivers Federal Lawmaker, Hon. Farah Dagogo as the new leader of the party in the state.

Farah who is believed to be a strong ally of Atiku had earlier been detained on the order of Governor Nyesom Wike for allegedly disrupting primaries of the PDP in Port Harcourt, but was subsequently released from detention.

If the appointment of Farah is sustained, there are reports of plans to open a new party secretariat in the coming days.

Various reasons have been put forward as to why the two strategic meetings early fixed, were abruptly put off.

One report says the postponement of the NEC and the National Caucus was to starve off ongoing plots to remove Senator Iyorchia Ayu as National Chairman of the PDP.

Both meetings were scheduled for tomorrow Wednesday August 9, 2022 and Thursday to discuss the constitution of members the Presidential Campaign Council.

However, a statement by the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu stated this: “This is to inform all members of the PDP National Caucus and NEC that the meetings of the two bodies earlier scheduled for Wednesday, August 10 and Thursday, August 11, 2022, respectively, have been postponed

“The postponement is due to unforeseen circumstances. A new date will be announced in due course. All inconveniences are deeply regretted.”
