Like Dr. Peter Obi, who withdrew from the People’s Democratic Party’s presidential primaries, on allegation of over-inducement of delegates, another aspirant, Mohammed Hayatudeen, has withdrawn race.
The former Managing Director of FSB International Bank had in a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, expressed his dissatisfaction at the monetization of the ongoing primary election in Abuja
Nigeria’s Federal capital.
Hayatudeen contended that he wanted to rule Nigeria to add real value to the governance, economy and security situation of the country, but cannot achieve his dream in an ‘obscenely monetised’ system.
The economist noted that his decision to pull out of the race was due to the obscene monetisation of the contest.
“I wish to reiterate that I did not join party politics and to contest for the presidency because of personal gains and inordinate ambition, but in order to serve our country.
“It is therefore based on personal principles and with great humility that I have decided after wide consultations to withdraw from this contest which has been obscenely monetized”, Hayatu-Deen noted in the letter.
Meanwhile, report reaching Midwest Herald indicates that the race is a direct battle between the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and incumbent gover of River State, Nyesom Wike.
Some Delegates have confided in our reporter that Wike is in lead of aspirants offering the irresistible amount to them.
