Senator Matthew Aisagbonriodion Urhoghide has said that, the late Chief David Edebiri, Esogbon of Benin Kingdom is an icon that will be greatly missed.

The two term, immediate Senator that represented Edo South in the National Assembly eulogized the late sage and also expressed his sympathy in a letter addressed to family of the late number three Benin Chief.

“The news of the death of the patriarch of the house of Chief D.U. Edebiri, the Esogban of Benin Kingdom, came as a mixed feeling of sadness even at the milestone of age 94 and albeit, gratitude for the great life that it pleased the Good Lord to let him leave here on earth. ”

Senator Urhoghide explained that, the late first class Benin Chief was a father figure in his life. “The late Esogban of Benin Kingdom was a father to me and many Edo sons and daughters. I will not forget the wise counsels I always received from him.

“He always almost attended every event I organised and especially the ones from which a greater majority of Edo people stood to benefit during my tenure as Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District. Such was this great icon that will be hugely missed by all who had the good fortune of crossing path with him.

“On behalf of myself and family members, I commiserate with your family and the Royal Palace of the Oba of Benin and the Benin Traditional Council.

“Let me ask that, you please accept our condolences and our prayers that, the Almighty God will give you His divine comfort and fill the void that his death must leave in the heart of those he left behind.”

The Senator concluded with assurance that he will join others to share in the grief.

“We share this grief with you and hold your hands as you thank God for his life and mourn this very painful exit of a rare personality, while promising that I shall attend the ceremonies to give him a befitting send off no less than an honour to attend in person, God willing.” Senator Urhoghide condoled.
