Ize-Iyamu, Oshiomhole

These are restive moments for politicians in Edo State. The restlessness is more within the All Progressives Congress, APC where the National Chairman, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole has engaged himself in a protracted retrogressive political fight with the incumbent governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.

The dilemma facing the pro Oshiomhole front is the seemingly unwillingness of those approached to wrestle the APC gubernatorial ticket from Obaseki.

With less than eight months to the party primaries, the quarter of a dozen aspirants have developed cold feet due largely to their fear of betrayal by the party’s national chairman.

This scenario might change drastically and the muddy APC political waters becomes muddier if the alleged ongoing discussions sails through between Oshiomhole and the 2012 Director General of his reelection campaign, Mr. Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

A source informed Midwest Herald late Thursday afternoon of a private meeting between the two politicians in Oshiomhole’s Benin City home. Midwest Herald gathered that the National Chairman received the 2016 Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate with a general feeling of forebodness.

“Oga was shocked to see pastor and he joked with him that he was monitoring him. Pastor requested for a meeting and they agreed to meet in Abuja for discussion.” The source alleged.

When Midwest Herald contacted the the former Secretary to Edo State Government, he denied visiting Oshiomhole, but explained that his meeting with him was by chance.

He explained that the only contact he had with Oshiomhole was at the VIP lounge in Benin City where he was offered a free ride by the APC National Chairman in his private jet.

“I was offered a seat in his plane to Abuja and on arrival, I went my separate way.” Pastor Osagie explained.

Paraventure, Ize-Iyamu makes the dramatic return to APC, what would be the dynamics in PDP and APC? Certainly, the polical calculus in the state will be recalibrated.
