Mr. Godwin Obaseki, Governor of Edo State has reiterated his administration’s readiness to reopen the state School of Nursing and Midwifery in Benin City. He gave the assurance when he visited the ongoing remodeling and refurbishment work in the school premises, which has reached advanced stage.
Obaseki, who disclosed this today, August 2, 2021, during an inspection of facilities in the institution, gave his government’s commitment to the training of world-class health practitioners and building of infrastructure to deliver quality healthcare services to Edo people.
“There is no reason why we would not have our first students here by September. We have about 30 days of work left to be done.” Obaseki reassured.
“The procurement has been done, recruitment for staff almost completed, the advertisement for students is already out, accommodation for the first set of intakes is ready, while the furniture work is ongoing A lot of background work is going on beyond what you see.” The governor explained.
On accreditation of courses, which hitherto was a major setback, Obaseki said: “The final accreditation team should be coming here anytime soon just before the school reopens.”
